The original ensuite in this Grimsby home had a corner jetted tub that was never used, a cramped shower stall, and vinyl flooring that was peeling at the seams. The homeowners wanted a space that felt like a boutique hotel — warm, spacious, and effortlessly calming after a long day.

We restructured the entire layout to accommodate a generous walk-in shower with a built-in bench, a freestanding soaker tub positioned beneath the window, and dual vanities with ample counter space. Every surface was designed to radiate warmth, from the heated porcelain floors to the brushed gold fixtures.

We installed 24×48-inch rectified porcelain tile in a beige limestone finish across all floor and shower surfaces, maintaining continuous grout lines from the bathroom floor straight into the shower for a seamless visual flow. The walk-in shower spans 42 square feet and features a 16-inch ceiling-mounted rain showerhead alongside a secondary handheld unit on a 36-inch slide bar, both finished in brushed gold.

A 12-inch-deep built-in shower bench was formed from Kerdi-Board and clad in matching porcelain, with a hidden linear drain running the full width of the shower entry. Beneath the tile, Schluter DITRA-HEAT electric radiant mats cover the entire bathroom floor and extend into the shower, eliminating cold spots entirely. A heated towel rack was hardwired to the same circuit, controlled by a programmable thermostat near the vanity.

The completed 160-square-foot ensuite is defined by its sense of openness and warmth. The freestanding acrylic tub sits beneath a frosted window with a brushed gold floor-mounted filler, while the frameless glass partition separates the shower without interrupting sightlines. Dual vanities with quartz countertops flank a shared full-height linen tower, and the soft glow of recessed LED lighting throughout keeps the palette serene from sunrise to evening.
